Question:

Is it normal that the IC of the motor control shield becomes hot in the course of operating?

Answer:

Don’t worry, it is normal.

Question:

Can the motor control shield drive a quad-channel motor when powered by adjustable voltage supply?

Answer:

The motor control shield adopts AMS1117-ADJ as its adjustable regulator IC, of which the maximum output current is 800MA. For a common small-power motor, it may require the operating current of 300MA. So the motor control shield is unable to drive a quad-channel motor when powered by adjustable voltage supply. If you want to do so, please select a 5V power supply.
