I need to know the switch configuration for switching the usb port between the two procs. The examples on the site show the same switch config for both the rpi2040 and esp32. I tried a link and was unable to download the link due to it wanting me to signup but I don't read chiniese so I'm ver confused .

is there a spec sheet for gpio pin to see where the uart connection are made for debugging both systems as well as the uart that connects them both.

Yes and No it doesn't show where the board pins are for UART for both SOCs and the UART between the two. From that schematic it looks like rpi GPIO 16,17 may go to the ESP pins 28,27. Is it possible that UART 0 is connected on both so I would need to set up the individual debugging output to some other GPIO pins? Once again a pinout would be handy. Also what GPIOs are the LEDs on? This is information is usally made available for a development board. I may be able to figure it out from the rpi2040 and esp32 spec sheets and that schedmatic but it should be more clear.

That is very helpful. It seems that the switch is to set the rx and tx is going to the gpio pins on the board, or if it's connecting the SOCs?

So I get that for the pico side I can connect to gpio 16 17 for uart. I'm still hung up on esp32c3. according to https://www.studiopieters.nl/esp32-c3-pinout/ it's gpio 20,21 but how does that relate to the "io" pins as the io pins only go up to 8.

I get it now looking at the traces. I don't think there is any way to tap the uart on the esp32c3. It seems it runs from pins 28,27 right to the switch. Thanks for all your help.

I figured out what GPIOs the leds are on and I thought I would share and save someone else some time. The rpi2040 is gpio 25 and esp32c3 is gpio 10
