I've been looking for a nice used S Class for a few months now, something like a 2017 S560, because I wanted that luxury without paying new car prices. Found one in Dubai from a private seller, looked pristine in the photos, service history seemed okay, and the guy seemed trustworthy over the phone. I drove it and honestly it felt like a dream, quiet, smooth, everything worked. But I remembered reading about air suspension struts failing on these, and how expensive the electronic gremlins can get, so I decided to pay for a proper inspection even though the seller seemed honest. They did a dubai mercedes pre purchase inspection and wow, I'm glad I did. They found evidence of minor flood damage in the footwells that had been cleaned up but left corrosion on some wiring connectors under the carpet. The seller claimed it was just from a spilled drink but the inspector showed me photos of water stains behind the dashboard. On top of that, they found the rear differential was leaking and the transfer case had been making metal filings which wasn't audible during my short test drive. I walked away from the deal and the seller got really upset but I don't care. I was so close to handing over a huge pile of cash for a car that would have been a nightmare. Just wanted to share because it's easy to fall in love with a shiny Mercedes and ignore your gut feeling. Don't skip the inspection, seriously.
