I used to stress about rebooking, but Delta has actually made it much simpler. Last year, I had to move a trip at the last minute, and I was pleasantly surprised.
For most Main Cabin tickets (now called Delta Classic) originating in the U.S., there are no change or cancellation fees. You just pay the fare difference. However, if you booked Basic Economy, be careful—they usually charge a fee (around $99–$199) which is deducted from your eCredit.
The "pro tip" is the 24-hour risk-free window; you can cancel or change anything for free within a day of booking!
