I actually prefer Premium Economy for those mid-range flights to Hawaii. On my last trip, I didn't want to pay the full fare, so I watched the seat map like a hawk. AA often offers a "Main Plus" package during checkout that includes these seats. Alternatively, if you have status, you can sometimes get moved up at the gate if Business is full and they need to shift people. It’s a great middle ground—way better food than the back of the bus!
