running a pi zero v1.2
used the 1.54inch-LCD-retropie-4.7-rpi1_zero-211209 image
boots
flashes white screen with colors twice
then goes black screen
works fine on Raspbian though

If Raspbian work but pre-configured retropie do not work
You can try to re-download the pre-configured retropie and re-burned the SD card
